New Brand Management Group, Relevant Brands, Set to Unleash Potential in Sports, Fashion and Lifestyle Brand Categories
Announces acquisitions of Italian sock maker, Eurosock, and shoe brand, Simple.
San Rafael, CA – A team of industry veterans led by Tom Seavey and Tim Ouellette, has formed Relevant Brands, a brand management group focused on the sport, fashion, and lifestyle industries. Relevant Brands is building a portfolio of authentic, synergistic brands through acquisition and licensing. The group brings a vast network and relevant insight to identify underutilized brand opportunities to unleash growth and deliver value.
Together with financing partner In Colour Capital, a Toronto-based independent principal investment group, Relevant Brands has already undertaken the acquisition of its first two properties. The first acquisition, Eurosock, is an Italian sock design and manufacturer recognized worldwide for manufacturing excellence, research and innovation in the sock industry Eurosock is focused on the performance demands of discerning runners, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts. Relevant Brands has also acquired Simple Shoes, a lifestyle brand that provides a hybrid of casual, comfortable and athletic styles for men and women.
Tom Seavey, CEO, formerly a partner in Established Brands, draws upon sales, marketing and brand licensing experience with brands including Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Ugg, Puma, adidas, Wenger, United States Marine Corps and Teva. Tim Ouellette, President and COO, draws upon experience as principal of Brand Group International and brands including Converse, Cole Haan, and Decker Brands. They are joined by a team of sales and marketing professionals with deep experience in branding, retail sales and marketing.
“We believe that the combination of our vast industry network combined with our experience and insight allows us to identify and unleash the potential of brands to increase their value to consumers, the company and to our investors,” said Seavey. “We are already in discussions with global brands to discuss extending their consumer reach through brand licensing,” he said.
“We are actively seeking brands as wholly owned entities or through licenses,” said Ouellette. “In addition, we are creating subsidiaries and establishing co-marketing relationships with partners throughout the world,” he said.” We have put in place a network of distribution partners to provide retail support in value, specialty and online channels.”
The Eurosock acquisition provides a strong European connection as well as a distribution center in Tucson, AZ. The company has established manufacturing capabilities in Europe and Asia. Relevant Brands will maintain a marketing and design office in Portland, OR, the epicenter of athletic and outdoor innovation. The company is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area.
